Violin master Kala Ramnath is set to perform on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in New York City. Born into a dynasty of musical talent, Kala Ramnath is an accomplished violinist and composer who has been awarded the illustrious Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar for her contributions to the violin in Hindustani Classical Music. She is also known for her revolutionary vocalized technique for the instrument, famously known as ‘singing violin’. She will perform with her long-time collaborator Abhijit Banerjee on tabla.
Arun Ramamurthy, a multifaceted violinist, composer, and educator rooted in South Indian classical “raga” music, will open the show with his innovative trio featuring Yacouba Sissoko on kora and Swaminathan Selvaganesh on Carnatic kanjira.
