Bassekou Kouyate, a master of the ngoni, an ancient West African lute, and his Ngoni Ba ensemble, will perform on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Roulette in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. Bassekou is known for his innovative approach to the ngoni and has collaborated with musical icons like Paul McCartney, Bonnie Raitt, and Bono.
The concert will celebrate his last album, Miri, which was one of the Best Albums of the Year in Songlines magazine and topped the world music charts in Europe in February and March 2019.
Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba have performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide and recorded five albums, including Segu Blue, I Speak Fula, Jama Ko, Ba Power, and Miri.
