Darren Nicholson is a bluegrass and Americana musician based in Haywood County, North Carolina. He has won multiple International Bluegrass Music Association Awards.
Nicholson has performed on famous stages like the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, and on networks like CMT and GAC. He’s known as a solo artist, session musician, skilled mandolinist and songwriter.
After 15 years as a founding member of the award-winning bluegrass quintet Balsam Range, Darren reactivated his solo career, focusing on his own music.
In January 2023, Nicholson released the single “Arkansas Without You.” The song features a classic vocal performance with modern twists like split solos showcasing the virtuosity of Wes Corbett, Billy Contreras, and Nicholson with chromatic lines and arpeggios. “Arkansas Without You” highlights an established artist’s new image, ending with an extended instrumental.
