Renowned Indian ethnomusicologist Deben Bhattacharya filmed the fascinating material on the Krishna in Spring DVD in 1969 in Mathura and Barsana, Uttar Pradesh, India. The movie presents vignettes from the Holi festival (a highly popular Hindu festival, also known as the Festival of Spring) and many of its stunning rituals.
The tracks on the audio CD were recorded in 1954 and 1968 in Vrindavan, Krishna’s home village, and in Jodhpur and Jaipur.
