World music star Oumou Sangaré is set to release her new album ‘Timbuktu’ on April 29, 2022 on World Circuit Records. Recorded in multiple locations (United States, Mali and France), ‘Timbuktu’ is her first new material since 2017’s critically acclaimed ‘Mogoya’. ‘Timbuktu’ features a mix of traditional Wassulu rhythms from Mali, blues, folk and rock.
“Music is within me,” Oumou affirms. “Without it, I’m nothing, and nothing can take it away from me! I’ve put my life into this record, my whole life – this life in which I’ve known hunger, the humiliation of poverty and fear, and from which today, I draw glory.”
To coincide with the announcement, Sangaré has revealed a video for new song ‘Sarama’:
