Asgeir Asgeirsson Releases Icelandic Folksongs Trilogy Vol 1-3

Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and composer Asgeir Asgeirsson has released the boxed set “Icelandic Folksongs Trilogy Vol. 1-3” on the Sanga label. Number 1 is titled “Two sides of Europe” recorded with Turkish musicians; Number 2 is “Travelling through cultures”with with Bulgarian and Greek musician; and Number 3 is called “Persian path”, recorded with Iranian musicians.

Iceland’s best known singer Sigridur Thorlacius appears on these albums together with legendary singer Egill Olafsson.

Asgeir displays his skill on many eastern instruments like tambura, saz baglama, bouzouki and ud. He also writes new melodies and solo parts and connects it with old Icelandic folk melodies arranged by him and his collaborators, Yurdal Tokcan, Borislav Zgurovski and Hamid Khansari.
