One of Italy’s finest world music acts, Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino (CGS) will stream the presentation of its new album Meridiana tonight, May 20. The streaming event will be available at 9:00 p.m. (central European Time) through Youtube and Facebook. Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino’s innovative style features a sensational mix of southern Italian musical traditions, trademark vocal harmonies and a distinctive blend of ancient and modern soundscapes.
Meridiana (Ponderosa Records) will be available tomorrow May 21st, 2021 on CD, vinyl and digital formats.
The new recording was made in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and was co-produced by British guitarist and producer Justin Adams (longtime collaborator with Robert Plant, and producer of well-known world music acts as Tinariwen and Rachid Taha). Meridiana features special guests, including Neapolitan avant-garde composer Enzo Avitabile on “Tic e Tac”, American bhangra brass band Red Barat on “Pizzica Bhangra”, and electronic producer Giacomo Greco.
