Niemi – Spiraalit / Spirals (Bafe’s Factory, 2020)
Finnish singer-songwriter Inka Niemi takes walks throughout the forests to escape stress. She also uses traditional lullabies to seek well-being. Inspired by traditional Finnish lullabies, Niemi wrote a set of songs combining tradition and ambient music. The result is Spiraalit (Spirals), a set of captivating of ethereal songs featuring mesmerizing vocals and kantele that masterfully deliver a sense of serenity.
The album lineup includes Inka Niemi on vocals; Janne Storm on piano, guitar and setara; Venla Ilona Blom on backing vocals; Suvi Eevi Karhu on concert kantele; Eero Nurmela on guitar; Olli Puolakka on double bass; Mari Talala on flugehorn; Outi Pajukallio on concert kantele; Lassi Ylönen on drums; and Tero Holopainen on strings, guitar and bouzouki.
