Luis Heredia Fernandez, better known as “El Polaco”, was born in 1950. He started singing professionally at 21, specializing in flamenco tangos and bulerias, performing in the Sacromonte neighborhood.
In the 1970s, he spent a lot of time at peña La Platería, a flamenco fan club that was a bastion of purists.
He has won numerous awards at Flamenco song festivals, toured Europe and America as part of Mario Maya’s group, and actually has become one of the most prestigious cantaores in Spain.
In 2014 hew was sent to prison for attempted murder. After serving time, he returned to the flamenco scene.
