Anatol Stefanet

Anatol Stefanet was born on January 23, 1956 in Grinăuți, Rîșcani, Moldova. He began his career as a folk musician (viola) at the age of 12. Later he joined the most outstanding folk music orchestra in the country, Lautarii, and toured round Europe, South America and the US. He played with Gheorghe Zamfir in his tour of Germany and Romania. A couple of years later he founded Trigon jazz-folk trio. Stefanet has worked as director of a folk music orchestra and also as a jazz musician.

In 1996 he participated in the Black Sea Orchestra project with Okay Temiz, Enver Izmailov, Alex Alexandrov, Floros Floridis, Zurab Gognidze, Ivo Papazov, and Harry Tavityan (Istanbul, Turkey).

As a leader of folk orchestra he recorded 4 CDs in France and Estonia. One of his solo CDs “Anatol Stefanet – bratsch solo” was marked by French press by “SHOCK in Musique du Monde” in 1999, 2002, 2006 years.

Founder of ethnojazz band Trigon, they released 8 CDs in France, Germany, Russia, Romania, Moldova, Belgium, Greece. He was a member of Okay Temiz’s Black Sea Orchestra and played in Berlin Experimenti orchestra conducted by Bardo Henning and Sea Zone trio (Enver Izmailov, Anatol Stefanet, Vali Boghean).
