Reggae festival Sierra Nevada World Music Festival (SNWMF) has announced that Jamaican star Jimmy Cliff will be returning to Boonville this year. Legendary band Third World will also appear at this year’s edition that takes place June 19, 20 & 21, 2015 at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds located in the heart of Anderson Valley, Boonville California.
Other artists announced include The Very Best, from London and Malawi, who mix Afro-Western dance, hip-hop, pop and the traditional music of Malawi.
After spending most of 2014 living and recording in Jamaica, Nattali Rize, the face of Australia’s Blue King Brown, will be performing with an all-Jamaican band.
Hailing from St. Lucia is Taj Weekes, the extraordinary musician, singer, songwriter, poet, freedom fighter and humanitarian who will be returning to Sierra Nevada World Music Festival‘s summer solstice this June.
DakhaBrakha is a world-music quartet from Ukraine that combine fundamental elements of sound, soul and Ukrainian “ethnic chaos” to create a world of unexpected new music.
The self-proclaimed Reggae Ambassador of Indonesia, Ras Muhamad will be making his California debut at this year’s festival.
Stick Figure is an American roots reggae and dub band based in Southern California that is led by singer-songwriter Scott Woodruff. The band has been making big waves of late and we are pleased to present them at the festival this year for the first time.
In a genre dominated by male voices, the rise of Hawaiian native Hirie comes as a breath of fresh air just as the reggae scene had begun to emerge from the underground and into the mainstream.
Rounding out the new additions is the return of Rory in the dancehall, who will be performing under the newly-penned moniker of Rorystonelove Black Dub.
