On April 10th, S.O.B.’s, presents an high energy live performance by Afrobeat pioneers Antibalas. The Afrobeat band with the Spanish name (meaning bulletproof) is a multicultural Brooklyn-based ensemble, that has established itself as one of New York’s most electrifying bands with a knack for live performances.
Antibalas, a longtime S.O.B.’s stalwart, released its fourth full-length studio album, Security to much acclaim in 2007 and the 15-member band has been touring steadily since then. The last time that Antibalas was at S.O.B.’s was Halloween 2007 and the crowd was treated to a spooky intense jam session, as the members of the group dressed in zombie costumes and opened with a spirited cover of "Thriller", and followed with the usual fodder of fantastic music from the ensemble. On April 10th, Antibalas’ energetic and dynamic live show promises to be a boisterous evening. Come check out the ensemble for their first S.O.B.’s show of 2008 and a night filled with great music, food and dancing.
