Glasgow-based folk quartet Gnoss, featuring Aidan Moodie, Graham Rorie, Connor Sinclair, and Craig Baxter, has unveiled a new single, “Hjop,” signaling the start of a series of releases planned for 2025.
Recorded in January ahead of their sold-out Celtic Connections performance, “Hjop,” combines the band’s signature mix of acoustic and electric sounds. The tune, composed by fiddler Graham Rorie, also marks the beginning of a new partnership with award-winning engineer Stuart Hamilton of Castlesound Studios.
According to Rorie, the collaboration reflects a renewed focus on the band’s acoustic roots. “On our last record, we pushed the boundaries with studio experimentation,” he explains. “This time, we wanted to return to the core sounds that define us. Stuart’s approach to capturing acoustic detail made him an ideal fit.”
