Wind Songs and Sea Strings: Anemara Debuts with “Atlantic Schottis”

Anemara is a newly formed transatlantic quartet uniting traditional music influences from Scandinavia, the Celtic world, and North America. The ensemble features Kristina Leesik (fiddle, vocals), Jocelyn Pettit (fiddle, step dance, vocals), Justyna Krzyżanowska (harp, vocals), and Ellen Gira (cello, vocals).

The group’s name combines Anemoi, the Greek gods of wind, and mara, a Gaelic word meaning “of the sea,” symbolizing both their cultural scope and geographic reach.

Their debut single, “Atlantic Schottis,” composed by Leesik, celebrates the group’s formation in the summer of 2024.
