Volume Five Keeps It Lit

Bluegrass mainstays Volume Five return with Leave a Light On (Mountain Fever Records), a tightly crafted album that bridges traditional roots with contemporary storytelling.

The project continues the group’s hallmark blend of driving acoustic instrumentation and emotionally resonant lyrics. Several singles, “Dreams Like That,” “County Wishing Well,” “You Don’t Care for Me Enough to Cry,” “We Just Disagree,” and “Dying All Over Again,” have earned repeat appearances in the Bluegrass Today Top 10, signaling strong listener response and radio traction.

According to frontman Glen Harrell, the album reflects both personal experience and the band’s evolving identity: “As with each album we create, this one is a representation of our many different musical backgrounds and influences. This album is all about the songs—each one represents some personal experience or a new beginning for Volume Five. We always try to think about how we can create something new and exciting without straying too far from who we are as a band and the unique sound we try to bring forth as musicians and artists.”

The lineup includes Harrell (lead vocals, fiddle), Jacob Burleson (guitar, harmony vocals), Aaron Ramsey (mandolin, harmony vocals), Jacob Eller (bass), Jeff Partin (resophonic guitar, bass), Chris Wade (banjo), and Grayson Lane (piano on the title track).

Mandolinist Sierra Hull endorsed the release, noting the band’s continued ability to balance tradition and innovation: “This new record is yet another example of that.
