Creedence Goes Grassroots in New Iron Horse Tribute

CMH Records’ long-running Pickin’ On Series continues with Pickin’ On Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bluegrass Rising, featuring vocal and instrumental reinterpretations of Creedence Clearwater Revival classics by Alabama bluegrass quartet Iron Horse. Scheduled for digital and CD release on June 20, this marks the first vocal CCR tribute in the series, following earlier instrumental-only releases in 1999 and 2001.

Iron Horse, Ricky Rogers (bass), Tony Robertson (mandolin), Vance Henry (guitar), and Anthony Richardson (banjo), has served as the primary band behind Pickin’ On since 2003. Known for their tight harmonies, inventive arrangements, and genre-blending flair, the group brings a fresh bluegrass energy to CCR’s swamp rock staples, including “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.”

The Pickin’ On Series began in 1993 and has since grown into a signature CMH Records project, spanning over 300 albums that combine traditional bluegrass instrumentation with mainstream hits. In recent years, tributes to The Doors, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana have attracted widespread media attention, while past releases honoring Metallica and Modest Mouse have charted on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums.
