Alba Carmona is a Spanish singer and songwriter from the Barcelona area, born to parents from Malaga, in southern Spain. Her upbringing immersed her in flamenco dance and singing from an early age. She graduated from the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña in 2009, earning the distinction of being the first person worldwide to achieve the Superior Grade of Cante Flamenco.
For seven years, Alba served as the lead singer of the acclaimed band Las Migas, contributing significantly to three of their albums: Reinas del Matute (2010), Nosotras Somos (2012), and Vente conmigo (2016). The latter, which she predominantly composed, earned a nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards in 2017 for Best Flamenco Album.
Alba Carmona has collaborated with various artists across diverse productions, including Flamenco Meets Pansori, and the Flamenco Hoy show by Carlos Saura.
In 2018, she embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut album Alba Carmona, produced by her husband, the highly-regarded Spanish guitarist Jesús Guerrero. Since then, she has performed over 70 concerts in Spain and several European cities.
In 2022, Alba received a nomination for the Spanish Odeon Music Awards for Best New Flamenco Artist.
Her second album, Cantora, pays homage to traditional Spanish and Latin American folk songs, presenting nine tracks infused with lullabies, prayers, farewells, and hope. The album mixes various “cantes de ida y vuelta” (roundtrip or coming and going songs) with flamenco roots. Moreover, it embodies her reverence for traditional poetry and roots music diversity.
Following her tenure with Las Migas and collaborations with lauded artists like Miguel Poveda, Perico Sambeat, Chano Domínguez, and Carlos Saura, Alba Carmona continues to ascend in her career, gracing distinguished stages across Europe and beyond.
