The album Mawja by Aziza Brahim has claimed the number one position on Transglobal World Music Chart for the month of March 2024.
Aziza was born and raised in Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria after her family’s displacement from Western Sahara. She developed a profound connection with the radio during her childhood. Now, on her fourth album, Mawja, she channels her personal diaspora and world music influences, reflecting on her journey from the Sahrawi camps to Cuba and Spain. Mawja presents a fusion of Spanish rhythms, blues and African percussion.
