The Transglobal World Music Hall of Fame has announced the list of 2023 inductees. Five artists were inducted in the Artists category: Zakir Hussain, Natacha Atlas, Valya Balkanska, Alim Qasimov and Choduraa Tumat. The Artists category celebrates solo and ensemble living artists who have achieved lifelong artistic and technical quality or historical significance in the field of world music.
Although the Professional Excellence category normally includes three inductees, there was a tie for third place. The inductees are Antonovka Records / Anton Apostol; Canary Records / Ian Nagoski; Joaquín Díaz González; and Visa for Music.
Lastly five artists were inducted in the In Memoriam category: Shivkumar Sharma, Antonis Dalgas, Víctor Jara, Graciana Silva (La Negra Graciana) and Zilan Tigris. In Memoriam pays tribute to historically inventive and influential artists, or industry professionals, who passed away in previous years or decades.
