Fiddle Folk Family Unveil Folk Stories of Freaky Folks

Fiddle Folk Family – Freaky Folks (Heideck Records · 2023)

The Fiddle Folk Family, a family band comprising parents, sons, and occasionally grandchildren, has committed themselves to creating fresh folk music intertwined with clever alliterations. This band produces an enchanting mix of German, Irish, and American folk music, seasoned with humorous lyrics and a sizable serving of musical comedy.

The group has performed nearly 800 concerts over the last 20 years, including noteworthy festivals such as the Rudolstadt Festival in Germany; Folkfest in Grünberg, Germany; Nanning Internationales Folk Song Arts Festival in China; Folkfestival in Dobrodzien, Poland; Venner Folkfrühling, Germany, and many more within and outside of Germany.

In their debut studio album, Freaky Folks (Heideck Records · 2023), the Fiddle Folk Family pays tribute to unconventional individuals referenced in folk songs and encountered in real life. The German family band celebrates songs of love and depravity, combining nontraditional and ancient instruments to play whimsical music from extraordinary people.

The album invites listeners to appreciate the unconventional, to avoid taking anything too seriously, and to embrace their inner eccentricities, encouraging a more free-spirited and offbeat approach to life. Indeed, the album offers a few examples of such sentiments.

The Fiddle Folk Family comprises Andreas Klingner, who contributes vocals and guitar; Bettina Klingner, who plays the violin and percussion; Felix Klingner on violin, flutes, shawm, and provides vocals; and Stephan Klingner on violin, mandolin, banjo, and vocals.
