The Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba Announces 2023 Guitar Workshop Schedule

The 42nd Cordoba Guitar Festival’s educational program, which will run from July 6 to 15, 2023, has recently unveiled its highly anticipated workshop schedule. A lineup of renowned classical and flamenco guitarists will lead the program, offering expert instruction on various topics.

For those interested in classical guitar, the festival has organized three sessions, each consisting of eight hours of instruction over a two-day period. The first session will be led by Manuel Barrueco, and will focus on technique and interpretation. David Russell will lead the second session, concentrating on the development of musical and technical interpretation. The third and final session will be led by Ana Vidovic, who will cover classical guitar interpretation. All sessions will cater to students at the medium-high level and take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CSM Rafael Orozoco, with ten available spots per session.

For flamenco guitar enthusiasts, the festival has also arranged three sessions. The first session, led by José Antonio Rodríguez, will explore technique, expression, and aesthetics in concert-style flamenco guitar over three days. The second session, “Guitar 3.0”, will be led by Juan Gómez “Chicuelo” and will last for three days as well, covering contemporary flamenco guitar techniques. Diego del Morao will lead the third session, which will cover falsetas, technique, and accompaniment to cante. All flamenco guitar sessions will be aimed at the medium-high level, with 12 available spots per session, and will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CSM Rafael Orozoco.

Finally, the festival will also offer a workshop on flamenco guitar for dance accompaniment. Led by Inmaculada Aguilar, David Navarro, and Gema Cumplido, the workshop will provide instruction on guitar accompaniment for dance. It will run for four days, from July 9 to 12, and will cater to students at the medium level. The workshop will be held at the La Axerquía Theater and will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. daily, with 15 available spots.
