The multifaceted Gregorio Uribe, a Colombian singer, songwriter, and accordionist, has made an indelible impression in the music industry of both the United States and Latin America. Uribe’s first album was “Pluma y Vino.” Next came “Cumbia Universal,” which features the nine-time Grammy Award-winning Rubén Blades. Since then, Uribe has amassed an impressive repertoire of collaborations.
He has shared the stage with a host of remarkable artists including Monsieur Periné, Jorge Villamizar of Bacilos, Flor de Toloache, and Jorge Glem. Uribe has also collaborated with renowned luminaries such as Carlos Vives, Paquito D’Rivera, Martina Camargo, and Diego Obregón.
His 2022 release, “Hombre absurdo,”is a sublime fusion of Colombian rhythms and accordion cumbia. The album showcases Uribe’s exceptional musicianship and his ability to seamlessly blend disparate genres into a harmonious whole. Uribe hails from Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia, and is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music. As the leader of the Gregorio Uribe Big Band, a 16-piece orchestra, Uribe creates a sound that defies classification by blending cumbia and other Colombian rhythms with powerful big band arrangements.
