Ricardo Silveira - Solo

Ricardo Silveira presents his Solo Guitar Creations

Ricardo Silveira – Solo (Moondo Records, 2021)

Ricardo Silveira’s release, “Solo” (Moondo Records, 2021) is an alluring solo guitar effort. Stripping down to just his guitar, Silveira presents an introspective collection of eleven compositions, highlighting his virtuosic skills in a variety of musical styles such as tango and bossa nova. However, Silveira plays his arrangements using jazz guitar style rather than the familiar Brazilian acoustic guitar form.

While most tracks feature Silveira’s original compositions, the album also pays homage to other legendary composers such as Marcos Valle and Paulo Sérgio Valle’s “Preciso Aprender a Ser Só,” and Antonio Carlos Jobim’s musically poetic “Luiza.” Silveira’s rendition of Jobim and Chico Buarque’s “Zíngaro” (aka “Retrato em Branco e Preto”), Johnny Alf’s “Eu e a Brisa,” and Rodgers & Hart’s “My Romance” complete the set list.

With a career spanning several decades, Ricardo Silveira is a renowned guitarist, composer, and arranger in Brazil and beyond. Having released his debut solo album “Bom de Tocar” in 1984, Silveira has played alongside some of Brazil’s greatest performers, including Elis Regina, Milton Nascimento, and Hermeto Pascoal.
