Dakh Daughters is an Ukrainian music and theater ensemble formed 2012. Seven actresses use musical instruments to create a life-affirming performance about love, freedom and beauty that at the end of the day will save the world.
The nine performers create an atmosphere of am old time French nightclub, where Mireille Mathieu befriends Marilyn Manson. On occasion, using a full set of strings, keyboards and percussion, the women startle the audience with a roar in the manner of Slovenian avant-garde band Laibach, but can swiftly exchange anger for kindness, turning into fun-loving Hollywood beauties of the 1950s that dream of tropical vacations in the Caribbean.
The seven women play various musical instruments and sing in different languages (Ukrainian, English, French, German, Russian).
Dakh Daughters include members of different bands such as DakhaBrakha and Perkalaba. The ensemble’s name derives from the Dakh theater, which is associated with the project.
