Robert Browning Associates Unveils March – May 2023 World Music Concert Season

Robert Browning Associates, a highly respected New York City-based world music presenter, has announced the upcoming concerts scheduled for March – May 2023.

The March –May 2023 concerts feature the evocative Palestinian vocalist Nibal Malshi in a program highlighting women in Arab music (March 11); Spain’s master flamenco guitarist Rafael Riqueni in his United States debut (March 18); gamin, the outstanding Korean-born performer on flutes and oboes, leading an ensemble of Korean and American musicians in a program of traditional and contemporary music (March 31); an exhilarating concert of Mali blues with ngoni (lute)virtuoso Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba (April 14); Persian music with virtuoso musician Sahba Motallebi, the “Queen of the Tar” (April 15); and the celebrated Cuban pianist Omar Sosa and Senegalese kora (harp-lute) master Seckou Keita with Venezuelan percussionist Gustavo Ovalles in a program that embraces jazz, Latin and African influences (May 4) .

Robert Browning has presented world music since April 1976. From his years at the Alternative Center for International Arts / Alternative Museum to his 26-year tenure at World Music Institute (which he co-founded and directed from 1985 to 2011) and his past eight seasons as the director of Robert Browning Associates, he has presented over 2,400 concerts of world music and dance by internationally renowned figures and emerging artists from over 100 regions.
