Edinburgh International Festival to Launch 2022 At Home digital program with Piper Brìghde Chaimbeul

Edinburgh International Festival is launching its At Home digital program, a month-long series of exclusive music sessions of artists from the 2022 program for audiences worldwide.

This Thursday, the series presented multi-award winning Isle of Skye piper Brìghde Chaimbeul, who was chosen as part of the artists to be featured for audiences worldwide in these videos.

Brìghde Chaimbeul, plays a rendition of song ‘Clann Ulaidh’ backstage at Leith Theatre before her International Festival performance:

A native Gaelic speaker from Sleat, Brìghde’s style is rooted in her native language and culture but also takes inspiration from a variety of global traditions; she also plays both the traditional Great Highland bagpipe and the revived Scottish smallpipes.

Other artists featured in the At Home digital program include the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra (recent refugees) performing in the Scottish parliament building, celebrated pianist Wayne Marshall shot in the historic Holyrood Palace and Scottish indie duo Arab Strap, performing from their first album in sixteen years.
