Vilsevind

Artist Profiles: Vilsevind

Gothenburg-based Swedish folk music act Vilsevind brings together the Swedish Nordic and Celtic traditions. The songs are sung in Swedish, English, Spanish, Welsh, Latin, and in Icelandic dialect.

The stories behind the lyrics take the listener back to a semi-legendary past where the dwellers inhabiting Northern Europe shared life and lore.

Vilsevind released its second full-length album titled Kelter och götar (Celts and Geats) on April 14 2022. Kelter och götarfeatures guest vocalist Stina Engelbrecht (Sarek) on one of its tracks. Musically, it is a darker and more archaic-sounding album than its predecessor, featuring progressive folk arrangements and a string ensemble.

The lineup in 2021 included Johanna Ribnikov Gunnarsson on vocals, concertina; Sergio Ribnikov Gunnarsson on vocals, Irish bouzouki, guitar, keyboards, percussion; Manuel Villar Lifac on acoustic bass, cello, violin, sitar; Santiago Molina on Irish flute, low whistle; Freddy Santana MacKinlay on tin whistle, vocals; and Albert Castillo Asenjo on bodhrán, percussion.
