Captivating Multicultural Sounds Inspired by River Deltas

Deltas – II (Groovin Records, 2021)

Portuguese band Deltas presents a captivating cross-cultural sound inspired the river deltas in various countries. Influences include Celtic music, Brazilian music (baião and candomblé beats) from the northeast, American blues and jazz. Middle Eastern music and beyond.

Although based in Portugal, Deltas includes band members from Portugal and Brazil. The group believes that it does not matter where one style begins and the other ends; their music easily travels between the border regions common to these rhythms, just as the waters of the Capibaribe, Tagus (Tejo in Portuguese) and Mississippi rivers would be interchangeable if they flowed together.
