Artist Profiles: Yohann Le Ferrand

Early in his career, French guitarist and producer Yohann Le Ferrand started performing traditional Breton music. His musical curiosity led him to branch out into African-American genres like jazz and funk and later to world music, specifically the sounds of West Africa.

Since 2012, Yohann Le Ferrand has been deeply involved in the Malian music scene. he has become an in-demand guitarist, playing together with popular artists such as Rokia Traoré, Serge Aimé Coulibaly, and Tiken Jah Fakoly.

Le Ferrand currently plays guitar for artists such as Kandy Guira, Mamylove Sarambé, and the Kinyonga collective.

In 2022, he released the EP “Yeko” with some of west Africa’s finest vocalists. “Yeko” is also a love letter to Mali and its musicians.
