Sacred Jewish Music on Ud

Yuval Ron – Nefesh (Yuval Ron Music, 2021)

Nefesh present a set of musical pieces from the Jewish sacred traditions of Eastern Europe, Iraq and the United States performed by Yuval Ron on the Middle Eastern ud (also known as oud). Yuval Ron also includes a traditional Sufi-Qawwali composition into the mix. The music is contemplative and fervent.

Yuval Ron started playing the ud with the Bedouin tribes in the Sinai desert. Afterwards, he worked with Turkish, Iraqi-Israeli, Palestinian, and Armenian maestros. Yuval’s style of playing is also influenced by Flamenco, Arab-Andalusian, blues, and jazz music.
