Corciolli Unveils Ulimwengu Video featuring Eric Wainaina and Vini Ngugi

Brazilian artist Corciolli has a new single titled ‘Ulimwengu‘ from his upcoming album “No Time But Eternity”. The track has Swahili lyrics and features Kenyan singer-songwriters Eric Wainaina and Vini Ngugi.

The song combines a strong Afrobeat percussion arrangement, layers of synthesizers and a lush string quartet.

Eric Wainaina is a renowned Kenyan singer-songwriter, also known for his extensively support in human rights activities in Kenya. His 2001 song “Nchi ya Kitu Kidogo” (“Country of Small Things” ) was a smash hit in his native country and launched his crusade against rampant corruption.

Wainaina was involved in the 2006 launch of Kenya´s National Education Program and was also commissioned in 2010 to write the UN-MDG anthem at the closing ceremony of the FIFA world cup in South Africa to be performed alongside Jimmy Dludlu, Baaba Maal and Angelique Kidjo. In 2013, he was designated a National UN Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP).

Says Corciolli: “When I was producing the album, I got in touch with Eric´s music, discovering that our musical affinities were so strong. So, joining with another great singer-songwriter Vini Ngugi, we co-wrote together this piece, ULIMWENGU, with lyrics in Swahili, which brings an important message of awareness and conservation of the planet:

Ulimwengu ukizunguka
Kile tunachopanda
Bila shaka ndicho tutavuna
Kama jua likitua
Yale tunayofanya
Bila shaka ya tatufuata
(“As sure as the world turns
What we plant
We will surely reap
As sure as the sun sets
What we do
Will no doubt follow us”).
