Luana Bayô at Malungo Festival

Luana Bayô recently participated in Malungo Festival, a showcase of Afro-Brazilian msambausic. Luana is a singer, songwriter and educator from São Paulo. Her work is strongly marked by the presence of black music in the diaspora.

In her show “Tambú”, she presents original songs and reinterpretations that focus on spirituality, magic, spells and enchantments permeated by a Congo-Angola, Manding, Cabocla, and Afro-Diasporic musicality. Genres include vissungos, sambas, jongos and other songs that were and are part of her trajectory and are now presented in a new guise. Giovanni Diganzá is the shows’s musical director. Martinha Soares is the artistic director.

Songs available include Deusa, Quem Assim Me Vê Cantando, Vedete da Favela, Simplicio, O Pobre e o Rico, Ra, Re, Ri, Ro, Rua, Pinguço, and Acende o Fogo.
