Eleonora Bordonaro , the New Voice of Sicily

Eleonora Bordonaro – Moviti Ferma (Finisterre, 2020)

Moviti Ferma is Eleonora Bordonaro’s second solo album, produced by Puccio Castrogiovanni. Bordonaro is a talented and innovative Sicilian singer-songwriter and the crowdfunded album was conceived and developed in Sicily. She chose the title Moviti Ferma because in Sicilian muvirisi means to remain and not move. It is an oxymoron found in the Sicilian language and also applies to thought.

The album explores contemporary Sicilian folk music and Eleonora Bordonaro indicated that she wanted to have fun with drum rhythms and the sound of the Sicilian Marranzano (jaw harp).
