Kristian Montgomery and the Winterkill Band – Prince of Poverty (Kristian Montgomery, 2021)
Prince of Poverty is a superb Americana album from Kristian Montgomery. The singer-songwriter and guitarist currently based in the Massachusetts area presents a captivating set of songs where Neil Young-style rock meets alternative country, blues and country rock.
Montgomery has an engaging vocal style with hooks that easily draw you in. The arrangements are excellent, with fantastic guitar work that ranges from blues and rock electric guitar to memorable steel and acoustic guitars along with galloping banjo, supported by a solid rhythm section.
The songs reflect Montgomery’s blue-collar spirit, advocating for the working man and fiercely criticizing the awful former president of the U.S. and his enablers.
