Sublime Mediterranean Vocal Tradition from Corsica

L’Alba – A Parulluccia (Ma Case Prod, 2018)

“A Parulluccia” is a beautiful, passionate, and finely-crafted album that showcases the music of L’Alba, a contemporary Corsican music band.

The sound on “A Parulluccia” is rooted in exquisite Corsican polyphony enhanced by acoustic guitars, mandolin, electric and acoustic bass, and the impeccable accordion of Madagascan musician Régis Gizavo who sadly passed away after recording the album.

Lineup: Jean-Paul Colombani on guitar; Benjamin Dolignon on vocals; Eric Ferrari on vocals, electric bass and double bass; Lionel Giacomini on vocals and guitar; Régis Gizavo on accordion; Ceccé Guironnet on vocals and wind instruments; Sebastien Lafarge on vocals; Antoine Marie Leonelli on mandolin; Ghjuvanfrancescu Mattei on vocals and guitar; Petrughjuvanni Mattei on vocals; Enza Pagliara on tambourine and vocals; Nicolas Torracinta on guitar; and Jean-François Vega-Albertini on vocals, guitar, ud and saz.
