Australian steel guitar player Paul Agar has released an instrumental lounge album under the name The South Pasifika Sound Project that celebrates the music of the South Pacific Ocean titled “Across the Pacific.” Each track on the album, except for the title track, signifies a location in the South Pacific Ocean.
“Across the Pacific” is a laid back recording with Hawaiian-style steel guitar accompanied by modern keyboards and percussion, traditional Polynesian chanting and regional log drums.
Paul Agar was inspired by his travels throughout the Pacific region over many years. Paul is best known for his production and engineering work at Heaven Recording Studios and as the steel guitar player for the Australian-based Hawaiian and Polynesian music pioneers, Aloha Baby.
Guests include well known Australian/Samoan percussionist Bobby Alu on log drum, Māori songstress Rewa Ututaonga performing karanga (Māori chant) and the Whitireia Performance Centre Choir performing Cook Island chant.
