Music from the Entertainment Capital of India

Various Artists – Mumbai Spirit (Free Spirit India, 2011)

This is an outstanding compilation of Mumbai-themed lounge and fusion music, and shows the indomitable spirit of this entertainment capital of India despite the waves of tribulations it has undergone in recent times.

Each of the 16 tracks is magnificent, and we strongly recommend the percussion-intensive pieces by Taufiq (Rhydhun and Ji Ji Rhy) as well as the soul compositions by Alms for Shanti (Kashmakash and Un Jawabon ko Dhoondo).

Ricky Kej has two fine contributions as well (Gateway and Synergism), and Mynta’s Jaane Kya Hua stands out too.

This album makes for a great gift as well, so go get an extra copy!
