Rabih Abou-Khalil – Yara (Enja Records, 1998)
Lebanese composer and oud player Rabih Abou-Khalil composed the music on this album for a movie titled Yara by Yimaz Arslan. Rabih Abou-Khalil left Lebanon in 1978, during the Lebanese civil war and relocated to Germany.
Yara is a splendid chamber music project with exquisite performances, where Arabic music meets jazz and western classical. The lineup includes Rabih Abou-Khalil on oud; Nabil Khaiat on frame drums; Vincent Courtois on cello; and Pifarely on violin.
