Celina da Piedade is a Portuguese accordionist, singer-songwriter and composer.
She started studying music at the age of 5, and shortly afterwards was performing in public. She studied at the Conservatório de Setúbal, Portugal.
In 1998 she started collaborating with the Associação PédeXumbo. In 2000, she joined Rodrigo Leão’s Cinema Ensemble.
Celina was a founding member of the Uxu Kalhus group, playing with the band between 2000 and 2010. She also performed with the music and humor act Homens da Luta.
Celina has collaborated with numerous Portuguese and international artists, including Mayra Andrade, Né Ladeiras, Uxia, Ludovico Einaudi, Amor Electro, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, António Chainho, Samuel Úria, and others.
She is part of the Tais Tais group together with Vitorino, Tim, Sebastião, Serafim, Jorge Palma, Paulo Ribeiro and João Gil.
Celina is co-author of the book “I cadernos de Dança do Alentejo”, published by Associação PédeXumbo.
In March 2021, Celina da Piedade released her fourth, a live recording titled “Celina da Piedade ao vivo Casinha” (Sons Vadios, 2021).
Celina da Piedade has taken her accordion and her voice to the most varied contexts, showcasing a remarkable mix of Portuguese roots and current sounds.
In 2023, Celina won the “Best Live Performance” category at the Iberian Festival Awards
