Sauti za Busara 2021 Festival in Zanzibar Call for Artists

The Call for Artists is open for the next edition of Sauti za Busara festival, scheduled for February 11-14, 2021 in Stone Town, Zanzibar (Tanzania).

Sauti za Busara presents a wide-range of music from the African Continent and diaspora. Musicians representing the Arab World and Indian Ocean region are also welcome to apply.

The Call for Artists is open only until 31st July 2020.

Preference will be given to:

  • Original music connected to Africa, the Arab World and Indian Ocean
  • Women artists, or groups led by women
  • Young, new and emerging talents
  • Music with messages that are positive, relevant and useful to society
  • Music that is performed ‘100% live’!

With regard to the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the festival stated: “we would like to assure everyone we are closely monitoring and assessing developments in order to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the next edition of Sauti za Busara festival in Zanzibar during 11 – 14 February 2021.”

    we are the Burundians Drumming
    we would like to participate to GROUP BALLET NATIONAL founded in 1987, started with 27 members. The members range in age from 8 – 50.
    The group performs the Burundian dance which is an old traditional dance and was usually played for Kings. The dance should bring people together and aims to bring happiness and peace into the nation. The group’s aim is to represent the Burundian culture in the national area as well as internationally.
    BALLET NATIONAL.believe that traditional instruments, the Burundian drums, are a tremendous form of communication and a sign of national unity. The group wants to convey a positive message by sustaining the tradition of the community which was broken by the civil war crisis.
    The group have won different prizes in various regions and countries,
    a) 12th march 2013 we emerged Number 1 in Rwanda – Kigali at FESPAD Competition( all African countries Festival )
    b) 28th November 2014 we again won an become Number 1 in Paris (Le Patrimoine Culturelle Immateriel de l’UNESCO )
    c) 7th September 2017 we won again in Kampala – Uganda,Rwanda.D;) performances in US as well as in America :

    1)Féstival international de Louisiane (LAFAYETTE) on April 15th, 1989

    2) Féstival international de Louisiane (LAFAYETTE) on April 14th,1991

    3)Concert artistique aux Etats Unis d’Amérique plus de 20 Etats in July 1991

    4)Féstival international d’été de Quebec (Canada) on July 2nd ,1991
