Lamia Bèdioui and Solis Barki – Fin’amor (Lamia Bèdioui, 2019 reissue)
Greece-based Tunisian singer Lamia Bèdioui and Greek multi-instrumentalist Solis Barki originally released this album, Fin’amor in 2006. The edition reviewed here is the 2019 reissue. The new version was re-mixed and remastered.
Fin’amor is an album for voice and a wide range of global percussion and mysterious sounding instruments. Lamia Bèdioui and Solis Barki selected a set of songs in various languages from various musical traditions throughout the world: Algeria, Palestine, France, the Sephardic traditions of Bulgaria and Bosnia, Egypt, music from Lapland. The set includes songs from the 13th century through the 20th century. Folk traditions are combined with trance-like percussion, Australian aboriginal didgeridoo and various fascinating conventional and unconventional musical instruments.
