WOMEX Announces First Set of 2019 World Music Showcases

The World Music Expo (WOMEX) has unveiled the first set of official jury-selected showcase artists scheduled to perform in Tampere, Finland, October 23 – 27, 2019.

The 2019 selection thus far represents a wide-range of world music genres and styles: new tango, urban-edged Senegambian sabar drums, polyphonic vocal tradition of Georgia; the fiddles of Finland,  Brazil’s ‘Queen of Carimbó’; an Iranian orchestra,  Sindhi sarangi fiddle from Rajasthan deser, Korean pansori singing , reggae, sacred steel guitar gospel blues and more.
