Aw Sa Yone Vol.1 (Teranga Beat, 2013)
Dieuf-Dieul de Thiès was a legendary Senegalese band that mixed West African beats with Afrojazz and psychedelic rock using an exciting assortment of percussion, fuzz guitars and a vibrant horn section.
Aw Sa Yone Vol.1 includes recordings from the early 1980s and features three vocalists, Assane Camara, Bassirou Sarr and Gora Mbaye along with musical director Pape Seck, a renowned guitarist and former member of Guelewar.
Aw Sa Yone Vol.1 contains most of the group’s second recording. It’s available now on CD and LP. The double vinyl LP comes in a special edition with a silkscreen print cover with a large poster.
The CD booklet includes photos and detailed liner notes with group member’s biographies.
Aw Sa Yone Vol.1 is Senegalese at its best, combining superb guitar, percussion and vocal work; songwriting; and various forms of Afro-roots music.
