Putumayo Presents Blues Lounge (Putumayo World Music, 2004)
This is one of Putumayo’s more inventive compilations, but one that produces mixed results. The 10 tracks feature a blend of modern electronica with classic acoustic blues, which may disappoint purists from both ends of the spectrum. The tracks include ‘Midnight Dreams’ by Little Axe and ‘Long Way To Go,’ also by Little Axe. We would also recommend the cool ‘Run On’ by Moby and ‘Pablo’s Blues’ by Gare Du Nord.
Putumayo has other blues compilations such as Mississippi Blues and American Blues, which blues aficionados may prefer.
