Clearwater Benefit Concert at Symphony Space

Music festival impresario George Wein with Pete Seeger at the Newport Folk Festival
Clearwater, founded by Pete Seeger, will present a benefit concert for their educational programs on Friday, October 21 at Symphony Space in New York City. Featured performers include: Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Loudon Wainwright III, Suzanne Vega, Lucy Kaplansky, Guy Davis, Toshi Reagon, David Amram, Richard Barone and others.

Music festival impresario George Wein will also be honored this evening with the first annual “Power of Song Award.” Wein, a celebrated American festival producer as well as a close friend of the Seeger family, founded the Newport Folk Festival in 1959 backed by board members Pete Seeger, Theodore Bikel, Oscar Brand, and Albert Grossman. Wein also founded the Newport Jazz Festival, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Playboy Jazz and JVC Jazz Festival in cities around the world.
