Bimbache Jazz Y Raices – La Condicion Humana (Esc Records ESC03718-2, 2008)

In 2008 German guitar virtuoso and environmental activist Torsten De Winkel released the Bimbache Jazz y Raices – La Condicion Humana recording, recorded live at festival in the Island of El Hierro.

The album celebrates the folk music of the Canary Islands, specially the island of El Hierro, which is the smallest of the islands. El Hierro was declared a United Nations world biosphere reserve and since 2010, the first island in the world fuelled 100% by renewable energies.

the album brought together some of the finest folk musicians from the Canary Islands as well as master jazz and world music instrumentalists from 5 continents. the list of musicians includes Gregoire Maret (Switzerland), María Mérida (Spain), Kai Eckhardt (Germany), Majid Javadi (Iran), Kike Perdomo (Spain), Boris Kozlov (Russia), Hellmut Hattler (Germany), Choeur de Benin, Epiphane Felix Zinzinsouhou (Benin), Fola Dada (Nigeria), Angélica de Sabinosa (Spain), Conjunto Folclorico Joapira (Spain), José Luis/Los Panchos (Mexico), Nantha Kumar (Singapore), José Antonio/Los Sabandeños (Spain), Mark Peters (USA), Tejeguate (Spain), Audun Waage (Norway), Gwilym Simcock (UK), T B Backhaus (Germany) and others.

Bimbache Jazz Y Raices – La Condicion Humana presents a fusion of Contemporary jazz with folk music cffrom the Caanry Idskland as well as bolero, tango nuevo, Flamenco from the Spanish mainland and Classical Indian music.

The CD contains a CD-ROM segment containing a video introduction to the Bimbache Festival.
