Caribbean band Kassav‘ will be performing Saturday July 10th, 2010 at 8PM at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater. Kassav‘ is the most popular French Caribbean zouk band for 30 years – a sensation throughout the world.
Zouk music is one of the world’s great dance rhythms, formed in the small Creole French Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Kassav‘ began by taking inspiration from a traditional rhythm of carnival, the mas a sen jan (from the name Saint John), on which they throw in funky bass, rocky guitar, salsa brass, heavy keyboards, drums from the countryside, and a mixture of Creole languages from Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Tickets are $40, open dance floor or seats, through Ticketmaster outlets or the Fillmore box office
