Daughter of Sweet Honey In The Rock’s founder Bernice Johnson Reagon, Toshi Reagon transcends genres, incorporating soul, funk and classic Rhythm & Blues. Bill Bragin, Director of Public Programming at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, which recently presented her, says, “There are few artists who can transform the spirit inside a venue like Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely. The combination of deep funk, hard rock, righteous gospel fervor and inclusive folk values make her shows some of my annual concert highlights.”
In 2007, Reagon was a National Women’s History Project honoree, chosen for her “amazing intelligence, talent, courage and tenacity to help move history forward for women.”
