Two Cents of Hope presents a live concert by Indian world music band Indian Ocean in Raleigh, with brand new compositions. The concert will be staged at Stewart Theatre at North Carolina State University on October 10, 2008 at 7:00pm. All proceeds will go to charity. The event is sponsored by Saffron and lip-smacking Indian food from Saffron will also be available at the venue 6:00pm onwards.

Indian Ocean Concert is a blend of folk and classical guitar melodies and rock and roll exhilaration, Indian Ocean’s music covers topics ranging from sufism and shlokas, folklore and mythology to environmentalism and revolution. Powerful improvisation and a commanding stage presence makes Indian Ocean a popular favorite around the world. Their Desert rain an album with only instrumental is melodious.

Subsequently their album Jhini released in 2001 won the AVMax Award for best produced album. Their foray in Bollywood was through the feature film ‘Black Friday’. The soundtrack for the film was released in 2005 and was widely acclaimed. The song ‘Bandeh’ from the album with lyrics by Piyush Mishra reached the second spot in the charts. They also went on to make more music for the film ‘Shoonya’ in 2007.

The group is currently composing seven compositions for the movie Bhoomi with Abhik Mukhopadhyay, director of the movie which will also be their next album. Also in the cans are songs for ‘Mumbai cutting’ a series of ten-minute films, by the director of Black Friday Anurag Kashyap.

Two Cents of Hope is a tax-exempt, registered non-profit organization (under section 501(c)(3)) founded by a group of graduate students as a student organization at the North Carolina State University, with a vision of empowering youth by creating opportunities to realize their potential.
