Máilbmi – Indigenous Music on Swedish Radio

This spring there will be a new music show at Swedish National Radio
on
Channel P2. The name of the new show is Máilbmi (World in Sami language).
The main purpose of the program is to play and present music from indigenous
cultures and people from all over the world. The program will contain reviews
and presentations of new records. There will also be interviews with artists and
music people from these areas.A few years ago Swedish National Radio hosted the
program Etno on channel P3. This show
focused on world music. Now the programmers want to dig deeper into music from indigenous cultures.
Nils Johann Heatta and “joiker” Sofia Jannok (Winner of the Sami Grand Prix
competition 2004 ) will cohost the show.
